Connecticut Plastic Surgeon Says Many Patients Removing Large Implants for Natural Breast Augmentation

/EINPresswire.com/ -- NORWALK, CT -- (Marketwired) -- 10/19/15 -- Dr. Rick Rosen a Connecticut Plastic Surgeon reports that there has been a significant shift towards natural breast augmentation. Dr. Rosen says, "there seems to be a trend happening on TV, many of my patients are commenting on celebrities removing their large implants and opting for natural breast augmentation."

According to Dr. Rosen, Natural breast augmentation is performed a couple of ways, the first is a traditional implant procedure using a smaller implants, usually in the small C cup range and the other is fat transfer to the breasts. The latter involves repositioning the patient's own breast tissue to add volume and combining it with fat grafting to add more volume to the breasts.

According to Dr. Rosen, many women that had larger breast implants done 10-20 years ago are now having them removed and opting for natural breast augmentation without implants. Many of these women are at an age now where comfort is more important to them, and large implants can be a uncomfortable especially for athletic women. For example a 600cc silicone breast implant (typically a D cup on most women) weighs about 3lbs each, 6 lbs of additional chest weight is quite significant for an athletic woman.

Dr. Rosen reports most women who have had large breast implants and are looking to have them taken out will typically require a breast lift procedure. Dr. Rosen says, "typically if the patient chooses not to have new implants fat grafting is a great technique for adding volume to the breasts." The fat grafting also allows the surgeon to perform body contouring to the patient as the fat is liposuctioned out of other areas of the body and then placed in the breasts.

Dr. Rosen is a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a past selection of the Castle and Connolly's list of best plastic surgeons in the region. He is a recipient of the "TOP DOC" award by Connecticut Magazine 2011, 2012, and 2013 which is extremely rewarding as it was on recommendations by physicians on whom they would bring their family to for plastic surgical care. He also was awarded "BEST PLASTIC SURGEON" by the Consumers Council of America for the last 4 years. He was also a division chief of plastic surgery for approximately 10 years at a local hospital. He also was appointed to the faculty of ZO Skin Health, the makers of one of the top selling skin care product lines around the world.
