New Jersey's Contemporary Plastic Surgery Adds Surgeon to Its Staff

The New Jersey practice welcomes plastic surgery specialist Dr. Pedro Vieira, who will see patients at both the Red Bank and New Brunswick offices.

Herbstman (www.cosmeticsurgerynj.com) recently added a new surgeon to his New Jersey plastic surgery practice, which offers a range of cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures at locations in Red Bank and New Brunswick.

Dr. Pedro Vieira officially joined Contemporary Plastic Surgery on Aug. 1. The plastic surgeon, who grew up in Kearny and earned his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School, is a fellowship-trained specialist in facial and cranial reconstructive surgery.

After earning an undergraduate degree from Rutgers University's Cook College and his medical degree, Dr. Vieira remained at New Jersey Medical School to complete a 5-year residency in general surgery. He worked for 3 years as a general surgeon before entering plastic surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Florida training program.

"My experience as a general surgery attending had a great influence on my career," Dr. Vieira says. "The lessons learned in practice cannot be duplicated in training. You learn techniques and how to evaluate and treat problems in training, but it was my years in practice that taught me how to be a good doctor."

After completing his residency at Cleveland Clinic Florida, Dr. Vieira was awarded a fellowship to train at the University of Texas Southwestern, considered one of the preeminent plastic surgery medical centers in the U.S.

"Dr. Vieira's advanced training in craniofacial surgery will be a valuable addition to our practice," Dr. Herbstman says.

Dr. Vieira performs both non-surgical and surgical procedures, including facial rejuvenation and breast augmentation, popular among New Jersey patients.

Dr. Vieira was born in Portugal and speaks Portuguese and Spanish. When he's not working, Dr. Vieira says he enjoys spending time outdoors and cycling.
