A 30-YEAR-OLD man was fatally injured during a home invasion in Valencia late on Wednesday night.
Police said Deon Brusco of Mountain View Drive, Benny Road, was at home with his wife when several masked men broke into their house around 11.15 p.m. that night.
The intruders, armed with firearms, announced a robbery before tying up Brusco's 30-year-old wife with tie straps.
They beat Brusco, demanding that he hand over valuables and money. One of the men then shot him in the left leg and fled the scene.
Brusco and his wife untied themselves and called the police.
Officers from the Valencia Police District, including Sgt Hosein and PC Ramkhalawan, responded to the shooting and took Brusco to the Sangre Grande Hospital in a marked police vehicle.
Brusco was pronounced dead at 1.09 a.m. yesterday.
Crime scene investigators, including PC Daniel and WPC Roopnarine, processed the scene and recovered a 9 mm spent shell and a projectile.
Members of the Eastern Division Task Force and Special Operations Unit (SOU) Valencia searched for the suspects, but made no arrests.
