Episodes Of Friends Spinoff Joey Finally Available In The United States

Those Friends fans who never saw the Joey Tribbiani spinoff series Joey starring Matt LeBlanc finally get another chance. According to Deadline, the official Friends YouTube Channel is the place to go.

This is the first time in 20 years that the spinoff has been made available to stream. Other countries have been able to watch this series, but not in the United States.

However, this is only the first two episodes. Here are both of them. Firstly, the pilot episode. This introduces the characters.

Next, the second episode, entitled “Joey And The Student.”

Who Starred In Joey And What Was It About?

Who starred in the Friends spinoff Joey? Besides Matt LeBlanc, who continued his role as Joey Tribbiani, Sopranos alum Drea de Matteo portrayed Joey’s sister Gina. Next, Royal Pains alum Paolo Costanzo ported Michael, Joey’s nephew and Gina’s son. Completing the cast was Andrea Anders (Bookie) as Alex, Joey’s landlord and on and off-screen love interest, and the great Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus) as Bobby, Joey’s hysterical talent agent.

In this spinoff, Joey leaves the New York City to Hollywood. However, after his popular soap role as Dr. Drake Ramoray, he was scraping by on the West Coast while trying to find solid work. He had a lot of competition and had to take goofy commercials and go to many auditions in the course of the two seasons of this series. Unfortunately, he lacked the spark that he had in the OG series.

The premiere was on September 9, 2004. The ratings were an incredible 18.6 million viewers. By the end of Season 1, the series averaged 10.2 million viewers. However, things went south in Season 2 with an average of 7-1 million. Part of the problem is that NBC moved the show from Thursdays to Tuesdays, after a nearly four-month hiatus.

There was clearly some misdirection from Friends co-creator Kevin S. Bright. He told The Age, “On Friends Joey was a womanizer but we enjoyed his exploits. He was a solid friend, a guy you knew you could count on. Joey was deconstructed to be a guy who couldn’t get a job, couldn’t ask a girl out. He became a pathetic, mopey character. I felt he was moving in the wrong direction, but I was not heard.”

Where Can The Remainder Of The Friends Spinoff Joey Be Seen?

Currently, there are only two episodes of the Friends spinoff Joey available on YouTube. However, there is hope that MAX, who is currently streaming Friends, will pick up the two seasons. What would be great is that eight episodes of Joey Season 2 have not been seen in the United States. Therefore, there is now new material for those who adore Joey Tribbiani.

Friends fans, have you checked out the two Joey episodes on YouTube yet?
